In January and February, Slovenian Guides Lived the Post-Assembly Days. The symbol of the International Assembly in 2024 were the bonfires on the night of St. John. Once, until recently, they were also known in Slovenia, but unfortunately, this tradition is fading. Nevertheless, we could easily relate to this image, which carries a powerful message—bonfires that illuminate the darkness of today’s world.
In Slovenia, we gathered in two local coordinations—Koper and Ljubljana–Maribor—and, joyful in the spirit of fraternity, followed the program of the Post-Assembly Days with great interest. It was a profound experience to return to the beginnings with Fr. Ignacio, to the very birth of the Workshops, as it allowed us to reflect on our own journey within them. A Guide is both a disciple and an apostle—his mission is to walk the path himself before leading others along it.
The Assembly always seeks to strengthen and reaffirm our path. This is a never-ending process, rooted in the way of life of the Guides and in continuous conversion, to which we, as active Guides, are committed. We also had the opportunity to see how PLW operates on a global scale, gaining a broader perspective on the Workshops, their worldwide mission, and their role in the new evangelization within the Church.
On the second day, we reflected on our founder’s wishes—that we support one another, build connections, and pray in unity, so that from here, we may spread God’s Kingdom and love in our communities. That we create small groups that become centres of holiness. The addresses by Fr. Ignacio and the testimonies of Guides from around the world awakened in us a longing for deeper connection and support—not only within the Workshops but also in serving one another and our brothers in need beyond them.
Thus, in one of the coordinations, an initiative emerged to establish a new Prayer and Life Circl !and may God grant that this bonfire ignites with radiant power of prayer!
