Illusions, passions, anxieties, fantasies, fears, projects…, everything is dragged inexorably into the ocean of nonexistence. Why suffer? Nothing remains vibrating, everything is buried in the temple of silence just as the rivers are buried in the sea.
Transience imposes its law on everything that begins. Why drop anchor on empty bottoms? Let phenomena be born, shine and disappear like fireflies. The Father arranged it like this. He never passes. He remains forever. The Father is Reality.
When a brother, through observation and meditation, reaches the vital conviction of the impermanence of everything around him, when he lets things be and emotionally detaches himself from everything that is not worth it (he does not “care” about what does not matter), From that moment on, that brother is flooded with a deep peace, the same as when the fire of the lamp goes out, when the lamp is completely consumed the oil.
A rock in the sea can be attacked by cyclones, but it remains immovable. The same thing happens with the brother who has reached this wisdom: he is so affirmed in peace that neither praise nor reproach can remove him, and he achieves the serenity of someone who is above the ups and downs of life.
Freed from worry about unpredictable events, the brother remains like a deep, serene and clear lake. If the brothers would set out on the path towards wisdom and humility, how sweet it would be for brothers to live together! How much energy is released and available to organize liberating battles in favor of all the exploited and forgotten people of this world!
When a brother is sad or depressed, or is on the cusp of crisis, he often gives in to the impression that this situation will continue, and this increases his anguish. But it doesn’t happen like that. Within a few hours or days, everything happened. If in the acute moment he gave himself a wake-up call, remembering that everything is transitory, sadness would disappear and peace would be born.
This brother will come, little by little, to have a detached, poor and humble heart. By detaching yourself, when you want, from events and people, you will acquire great control of yourself and your emotions, until you find yourself in a latitude where the tides of passion do not reach.
He has full self-awareness, full self-control. in any circumstance of life. Live awake. He has already transcended relativity and put things in order: the relative in its place, and the Absolute in its place.
At this moment you are in an ideal disposition to love. Your relationship with the brothers of the community will be woven of understanding, kindness and strength.
Now he can enter the tense world of defending the poor and exploited. He will not be broken by misunderstandings, nor will he be discouraged by difficulties.
