The PLW National Assembly of Eslovenia took place at the House of Spirituality of the Ursuline religious order in Sv. Duh – Škofja Loka, Slovenia from the 29th to the 31st of March 2019. An atmosphere of consolidation of the PLW Re-foundation and self criticism was lived througout the Assembly. Present were the Slovenian priest, Fr. Stefan Kozuh (who brought PLW to Slovenia), the International Coordinator Ma. Eugenia Toro de Mejía, the International Secretary Carlota Franco (both from Colombia) the European Zone Coordinator, Lorena Rodriguez and the Secretary of European Zone, Begoña Guinea Llop (from Spain).
There was a round table on Saturday, where the activities of the Workshops were presented to the media (radio, TV and press). The bishop of Koper, Dr. Jurij Bizjak, celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday. Attending the Eucharist were participants to the Assembly, friends of PLW, past Guides and representatives from various movements.
25th Anniversary of the PLW in Slovenia
The Workshops came to Slovenia thanks to Capuchin Fr. Stefan Kozuh (OFMCAP).
Since January 2019 the Guide Sonja Topler, from Vuhred, has become the new National Coordinator. There are three Local Coordinations: Koper, Ljubljana and Maribor, with more or less fifty Guides, from which forty Guides are Active Guides. They perform their mission in different places, some of which in more than one instance, are many hundred kilometers away. Distance does not matter for them as long as they can respond to the call they have received.
In these twenty five years of PLW in Slovenia more than 6.500 participants have done the Workshops. The ones to be specially mentioned are the Adult Workshops, although Workshops for Children, Adolescents, Youth and Marriage Course are also facilitated over and above Encounter and Experience of God. The Guides stressed the fact, in the first place, the need of cultivating a permanent relationship with Jesus, in silence and solitude. In this way they prepare themselves to be able to teach participants how to pray, based on the different prayer methods. There is a School of Preparation for Guides currently being facilitated in Vipavski Križ, and the future Guides are preparing themselves for their apostleship.
The Guides gave their testimony stating that the trascendence of eternal matters exceed feeble and temporary matters. While the world wants to reach the urgent matters, the Guides raise their voices to proclaim the transcendence of the eternal.
